When I finally made the decision to attend Hampton University; along with that decision came the Pre-College program, that I was advised to attend in order to become acquainted with the school. The months that lead up to June 18th were filled with excitement and anticipation. There was no time more exciting than the last days before I left.
I was ready. Ready to take the next step and become a student at Hampton. Though everyone I know that has attended Hampton has thoroughly enjoyed their experience here, I had to experience it myself. I was a little skeptical of the Historically Black University, because despite Hampton's high status amongst its fellow Historically Black Colleges and Universities, it does not rank as high, amongst other schools. However, I believed that I needed the experience of being surrounded by young black people, who are as eager to learn as I am.
In the days that came before the beginning of the program, I purchased the necessary supplies for the program, room and school supplies; and mentally prepared myself for the journey I was about to embark on, the first stop on my road to college. After all, I have been told that college is far more difficult than high college journey essay.
